NEWCASTLE United are ready to loan out a clutch of young players - signalling the beginning of the end of their careers at St James’s Park.
The Football League’s emergency loan window opens next week.
And SportMail understands the club is willing to farm out Gael Bigirimana, Sammy Ameobi, Haris Vuckic, Shane Ferguson and Remie Streete, from South Shields.
Adam Campbell, set to complete a month-long loan at Fleetwood Town this weekend, is likely to be farmed out again.
Striker Campbell, 19, an unused substitute three times, has played just 11 minutes of League One football for the club.
The Newcastle careers of Campbell and the other five players look to be coming to an end – unless there is a dramatic turnaround in their fortunes.
All six players have shown promise during their careers at United.
But they are not close to breaking into the first-team at the club, and they could leave permanently in January or next summer in search of regular football.
Bigirimana, Vuckic, Ferguson, Ameobi and Campbell all looked to have bright futures at Newcastle.
And 19-year-old Streete – who is yet to make his competitive debut - was, at one time, highly rated by United manager Alan Pardew.
However, the luckless defender has suffered a run of serious injuries over the past two years.
Pardew said in the summer that he felt some players’ futures lay away from St James’s Park.
However, Bigirimana – who starred for the club after his move from Coventry City two years ago – is under contract for another three seasons
Ferguson – who Pardew said had a “bright future” when he signed a five-year deal in 2011 – and Vuckic are contracted until 2016.
Ameobi, Campbell and Streete are out of contract next summer.
From Tuesday, Football League clubs can take players on loans from 28 to 93 days up to November 27.
