NEWCASTLE United new boy Sylvain Marveaux says he has no regrets after a move to Liverpool broke down.
And the midfielder instead insists he’s he couldn’t be happier after joining Alan Pardew’s French revolution.
Marveaux came close to signing for Kenny Dalglish, but the proposed deal fell through at the 11th hour earlier this month because of a contractual issue – and he crossed the Pennines to head to St James’s Park.
The 25-year-old, a long-time target of the club, was out of contract at Rennes, and joined on a free transfer.
“I’m very, very happy to be here,” said left-footed Marveaux, who has been likened to former Newcastle winger Laurent Robert.
“Newcastle came to me six months ago, and they always told me how much they wanted me. I appreciated that.
“When I came here I got a wonderful welcome, and everybody here was happy to see me sign here.
“I was in contact with Liverpool. I was really close to signing for them.”
