Pardew sets Ba high for Newcastle striker Demba

DEMBA Ba will be back among the goals next season - in a Newcastle United shirt.

That’s the hope of manager Alan Pardew, who has promised the striker a more central role in his attack.

Ba has long been linked with a move away from Tyneside.

But the 27-year-old, who has a well-publicised £7million release clause in his contract, has given Pardew every indication he is settled at the club.

Ba opened netted in Monday night’s 1-0 win over Monaco in Germany and the Senegal international will again be involved when Newcastle take on Fenerbahce in Austria this evening.

“If you speak to Demba, he’s always had the same feeling for the club,” Pardew told SportMail.

“I think he understands the fans love him here. He wants to repay that.

“By the same token we all have to make sure that everybody is happy here.”
