ALAN Pardew’s still hopeful Newcastle United sign Clement Grenier in this month’s transfer window.
The club has had a bid of around £10m for the attacking midfielder rejected by Olympique Lyonnais.
And Newcastle are running out of time to sign the 23-year-old, who has indicated he is happy to see out the season at Lyon.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Tyne-Wear derby, Pardew said: “It’s ongoing as far as I’m aware.
“There are two days left (before the transfer deadline). We’ll wait and see.
“But I think he’s got tremendous creative and technincal ability.
“I think he’s a player the fans would love to see at this football club.”
