Premier League is ‘made’ for Newcastle Utd’s Moussa Sissoko

HAPPY ... Moussa Sissoko.
HAPPY ... Moussa Sissoko.

MOUSSA Sissoko says he feels at home in the Premier League – with the style of play “made” for the Newcastle United midfielder.

The Frenchman – who is representing France at the World Cup – joined Newcastle in January 2013.

Last season, the 24-year-old often found himself on the right of midfield, but his lung-busting runs remained as important as ever.

And Sissoko is delighted with how he has settled into life in the Premier League, saying he is “very happy” on Tyneside.

He said: “England is made for me, and it fits in with my style of play.

“I grabbed this chance and I’m very happy to be in the country that’s the home of football.”

Sissoko became only the sixth Newcastle player to score at a World Cup last week when he scored for France against Switzerland, and will hope to be influential again tonight as they take on Ecuador at the Maracana.

The French are all but assured of a place in the last 16, and Sissoko says he “couldn’t be happier” with how things have gone so far.

He added: “My first participation in a World Cup and a first goal – I couldn’t be happier.

“Those are the moments you dream about when you play football, and I’m happy to be sharing them with this team.

“We’ve been regularly improving our standard since the (play-off) second leg against Ukraine.

“Since then, we’ve realised we have the qualities to achieve something great, and that’s what we’re now showing the world.

“We’ll try to play the way we have since the start of the tournament and remain united on the pitch. If we can do that, France can go very far.”
