DAVIDE Santon will stake his claim for involvement in Newcastle United’s visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers when he makes his comeback tonight.
The defender has been named in a strong reserve squad for the Premier Reserve League fixture away to Swansea City (7pm kick-off).
Dan Gosling, Nile Ranger, Shane Ferguson and Rob Elliot are also set to play at Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli.
Summer signing Santon - who is yet to make his United debut - had fluid trained from his knee last week, and after successfully returning to training, the 20-year-old has a chance of being involved at Molineux on Saturday.
Reserve-team coach Peter Beardsley said: “Having a couple of first-teamers in the squad is good for us, and obviously good for them.”
Beardsley’s team flew to Wales this morning, the players having been spared a gruelling coach journey.
“The good thing for is, it’s actually going to be one of our shortest trips,” he added.
Newcastle’s second string are unbeaten so far this season.
