DAVIDE Santon is out of Newcastle United’s next two games.
The injured defender – who sat out last night’s game against Benfica – will also miss the club’s Premier League matches against Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion.
Santon suffered a hamstring problem in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Fulham.
And United manager Alan Pardew expects the 22-year-old Italy international to be sidelined until the end of the month.
“Davide will be out for three games – at least,” Pardew told the Gazette.
The pain of Santon’s absence has been eased by the return from injury of left-back Massadio Haidara, who started against Benfica at St James’s Park.
Haidara, 20, has recovered from the knee and thigh problems he suffered at Wigan Athletic last month.
Meanwhile, Ryan Taylor – who was fielded at left-back in the first few months of last season – is closing in on his comeback from a cruciate ligament injury.
