TIM Krul’s facing several weeks on the sidelines at Newcastle United.
The goalkeeper injured his ankle in Thursday night’s 1-0 win over Metalist Kharkiv in the Ukraine.
Krul has had a scan after arriving back on Tyneside and while the 24-year-old has yet to see an ankle specialist, it is feared he could be out for five weeks.
Krul’s injury means a Premier League debut for Rob Elliot on Sunday when Southampton visit St James’s Park.
Boss Alan Pardew, minus the experienced Steve Harper who has a niggling injury, says he has no qualms about throwing the gloves to ex-Charlton stopper Elliot.
