THE future of Leighton Baines is top of the transfer stories this morning.
The Everton left-back was a target for Manchester United during the summer, with David Moyes having a bid rejected.
The Daily Mirror reports today that Everton have ‘put aside’ a new deal for the 28-year-old, but manager Roberto Martinez promises a contract will be sorted for the defender with United monitoring the situation.
Elsewhere, talkSPORT reports Italian champions Juventus will provide stiff competition for Liverpool to sign Xabi Alonso, 31, should the Real Madrid midfielder fail to extend his contract beyond next summer.
