Sissoko added to Newcastle’s Europa League squad – but Debuchy will sit out competition

MAIN MAN ... Newcastle United's Moussa Sissoko.

MAIN MAN ... Newcastle United's Moussa Sissoko.

MOUSSA Sissoko has been added to Newcastle United’s Europa League squad.

Two of the club’s other transfer-window signings, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Massadio Haidara, can also play in competition.

But Yoan Gouffran, having played for Bordeaux in the Europa League, is cup-tied and ineligible.

Mathieu Debuchy, also signed last month, hasn’t been added to the squad, as UEFA only allowed three new additions.

Newcastle take on Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv a week today at St James’s Park in the first leg of their Round of 32 tie.

United have taken off departed striker Demba Ba, now at Chelsea, from the list along with midfielders Mehdi Abeid, Brad Inman and Conor Newton, who are away on loan.

Xisco and Dennis Knight – who have left Newcastle – have also been removed.
