GUS Poyet wants Sunderland to repeat their Wembley performance in the remaining games of the season to secure Premier League survival.
Poyet said he was proud of his players after the 3-1 loss to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final.
The Black Cats were on target for a sensational victory when Fabio Borini gave them a 10th minute lead, before City turned the match on its head in the second half.
Poyet has now set his sights on pulling his 18th-placed side to Premier League safety, as well as a potential return to Wembley later in the season.
Sunderland travel to Hull next week for an FA Cup quarter-final, and a win would secure them a return to the national stadium for the semi-final.
Poyet said: “We’re talking about the rest of them (games) now.
“Now it’s up to us. I think we should do this every week.
“If we do this every week, we’ll stay up in the Premier League and we’ll have a great chance to come back to Wembley.”
