SUNDERLAND academy products Connor Oliver and David Ferguson have joined Championship basement boys Blackpool on permanent deals.
The two 20-year-olds have agreed 18-month deals at Bloomfield Road after successful trial spells with the Tangerines before Christmas.
Midfielder Oliver and left-back Ferguson have been regulars for Sunderland Under-21s this season, but neither have threatened to push into the first-team picture.
Ferguson said: “It’s a move that I really wanted to happen so hopefully I can hit the ground running.
“I came here for a week in November and everyone was welcoming, it was a good environment to be in.”
Oliver added: “I’ve been at Sunderland six years and it was a good experience, but I wanted to come out and get some first team games.
“It’s a good opportunity for me, so I’ve got to take it with both hands.”
Boss Lee Clark said: “We brought them in not long after I took the job and had at look at them for two weeks.
“We’re delighted that we’ve been able to conclude a deal for both of them with Sunderland.”
