LEE CATTERMOLE will undergo a scan on his injured knee today, with the Sunderland midfielder ruled out of this weekend’s crunch clash against Burnley.

Cattermole has not featured for Sunderland during 2015 after being sidelined by a groin problem and then a niggling injury with his knee.

It is the latter which has continued to hamper Cattermole in training this week, and he is due for tests this afternoon to ascertain the extent of the damage.

However, he is the only injury absentee for tomorrow’s visit of Burnley, with Wes Brown and Adam Johnson both recovered from minor knocks, although midfielder Jack Rodwell will serve a one-match suspension.

Poyet said today: “Lee, no (he won’t be available) but the rest are all in contention.

“If they are ready to play or not, will be a decision.

“But it’s nice to have a bigger squad. I like it.

“We will know more this afternoon on Lee when he has a test on the injury.”
