SUNDERLAND have completed a loan move for Inter Milan attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez.
Serie A giants Inter accepted an offer last week from Sunderland for Alvarez, which will see the Black Cats pay an initial £1million fee to take the Argentine international on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent move next summer.
Alvarez held talks and underwent a medical at the Academy of Light over the weekend and despite heading off on international duty, he has now been unveiled by Sunderland.
The 26-year-old has been earmarked to fill the void on the left-hand side of Sunderland’s forward line – the position which Gus Poyet had earmarked for former loanee Fabio Borini.
But despite Sunderland apparently missing out on Borini, Alvarez offers pedigree a replacement after Inter splashed out more than £10million to take him to the San Siro three years ago.
