FORMER Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse expects to hang up his boots at the end of the season.
Cisse, currently plying his trade in his native France with Bastia, has been struggling with back and groin problems for the last six months.
And with those injuries causing him constant pain, the 33-year-old has revealed that he is likely to retire when his contract at Bastia expires in the summer.
Cisse told French newspaper L’Equipe: “24 hours a day I am in pain. In the evening, when I’m watching TV, it is there the whole time.
“For one season, I can grin and bear it, but two or three... It is not playable. So this is my last season I think.”
Cisse spent the 2008-09 campaign on loan at Sunderland and netted 10 goals in 29 Premier League starts, including goals in both derbies against Newcastle United.
