DANNY Graham was handed his first Sunderland start since May 2013 at his former club Swansea today.

After four appearances as a substitute, Graham partnered Jermain Defoe up front against the club he left for £5million two years ago.

Graham was one of three changes from the side which won at Fulham in midweek, with Costel Pantilimon and Seb Larsson returning at the expense of Vito Mannone and Emanuele Giaccherini.

Ricky Alvarez kept his place ahead of fit-again Adam Johnson, although the winger was included among the substitutes.

Martin Smith was a late addition to the subs, after Giaccherini sustained an injury in the warm-up

Ex-Sunderland loanee Ki Sung-Yueng started for Swansea, as one of three changes for the hosts, with Jack Cork and Modou Barrow also included.

SWANSEA: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor, Cork, Ki, Dyer, Shelvey, Barrow, Gomis. Subs: Tremmel, Rangel, Amat, Fulton, Carroll, Montero, Oliveira.

SUNDERLAND: Pantilimon, Reveillere, O’Shea, Vergini, van Aanholt, Bridcutt, Larsson, Gomez, Alvarez, Graham, Defoe. Subs: Mannone, Brown, Fletcher, Johnson, Coates, Smith, Agnew.
