ASAMOAH Gyan has been coy about stories linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, insisting there has been no contact between him and the Londoners.
Sunderland’s record signing said: “I am not aware of any contact from Spurs, I have a contract with Sunderland and at the moment it is rumours.
“I was in London three weeks ago for an award in London with my good friend John Pantsil, not for a meeting with Spurs.”
However the former Rennes striker hardly helped to kill the rumours when he added: “Spurs are a fantastic club and any player would be flattered by their interest, so I am, but there is nothing I can do if Sunderland want to keep me.”
Rumours are rife in the Ghanaian’s homeland that he would fancy a move to London after allegedly falling out with the management at Sunderland over the departures of his international team-mates John Mensah and Sulley Muntari from the Stadium of Light.
But Sunderland are looking to strengthen their options up front rather than weaken them and would not want to let their £13m striker leave.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is known to fancy signing Gyan this summer but he wants to keep hold of Peter Crouch just as much as Steve Bruce wants to hang on to Gyan.
