SUNDERLAND summer signing David Moberg Karlsson has joined Scottish outfit Kilmarnock until the end of the season.

Moberg Karlsson, who arrived in a £1.5million July deal from Swedish side IFK Gothenburg, hasn’t appeared for the Black Cats since August’s Capital One Cup victory over MK Dons.

The 19-year-old has been a regular for Sunderland’s Under-21s though and his appearances for Kevin Ball’s side have attracted interested from north of the border.

Dundee were thought to be keeping tabs on the Swede, but Kilmarnock have managed to seal a loan deal for the winger.

Kilmarnock boss and ex-Sunderland winger Allan Johnston said: “David is a quality player who can score goals, create chances and can play on both sides of the park.

“It gives us different options and puts pressure on the players already in the side to perform.

“He has already played for Sunderland’s first team during a pre-season tournament in Hong Kong, when he scored against Tottenham. He’s gone there with a big transfer fee, so I suppose that gives you an idea of the quality he has.

“He’s still young and definitely isn’t the finished article, but he has talent and hopefully will make a big impact.”
