GUS POYET is still waiting to see whether Sunderland’s injury doubts will be available to face Swansea tomorrow.

Steven Fletcher (calf), Connor Wickham (back), Emanuele Giaccherini (ankle) and Wes Brown (calf) all missed Sunderland’s Capital One Cup third round defeat to Stoke City in midweek with knocks.

Poyet had been hopeful that the quartet would be available for the visit of fifth-placed Swansea this weekend.

But the head coach was today coy on whether all of them would be fit, with Sunderland expected to do late fitness checks tomorrow morning.

Poyet said: “A couple still have a few problems.

“But let’s say they will be there or thereabouts.

“We have to wait for one of them – I’m not going to say who – but I’m sure they are going to be almost there.

“I like to give as much information as I can, but then the opposition knows (who is available).”

Winless Sunderland will face a Swansea side who have taken nine points from their opening five games and bounced back from two successive losses to beat Everton in the cup in midweek.

Swansea are expected to include former Sunderland midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng in their ranks, with the South Korean starting every game for the Welsh side this season after spending last year on loan at the Stadium of Light.

“The games against Man U and Chelsea this season he was very good on the ball and impressive,” said Poyet.

“We know what he can do.

“But as with every single player in this league, there are things he doesn’t do well and we have to take advantage.

“It will be nice to see him. I would like to thank him because he was a key part of my plan last year, did very well and adapted to the situation.

“I’m sure he enjoyed playing a bit further up the pitch with us and it was remarkable what he did in that position.”
