New Cats star not fazed by Magpie past
TITUS Bramble says ambition has driven him to join Sunderland and he is completely unfazed by the challenges ahead of him.
The 28-year-old knew a move to the Stadium of Light would not necessarily be straight-forward, given his high-profile Newcastle United past.
But he is positively relishing the opportunity he now has on Wearside and is determined to show that he can be part of a Sunderland success story.
"After last season, Sunderland are looking to keep on improving," he said.
"I know they're a club that are ambitious and I wanted to be a part of that.
"They've got a great manager and the only way is up as far as I'm concerned.
"People might say top 10 is the goal but I don't see why we can't push for Europe, I really don't.
"I've been here a few days and I've seen the players we've got here and the squad is being improved by the manager, so I think it's an exciting time.
"Sunderland is a new challenge for me and I just felt at my age, I needed that.
"My career won't go on forever and I want to make the absolute most of it.
"I played for a very big club at Newcastle, but Wigan was smaller.
"I haven't got a bad word to say about Wigan, they were great for me and the people there were great.
"But I wanted the opportunity to show I can do it at a big club and that is exactly what Sunderland is.
"Sunderland are just as big as Newcastle, if not bigger at the moment and I think they can be bigger still if we get it right."
