CONNOR Wickham will not be leaving Sunderland - not for Blackburn Rovers anyway.
Wickham was not even on the bench for Sunderland’s Capital One Cup victory over Morecambe in midweek after being an unused substitute for the opening day draw at Arsenal.
Several Championship clubs have inquired about taking Wickham on loan, although Blackburn are now out of the race for the 19-year-old after agreeing an £8million fee with Huddersfield for Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes.
Martin O’Neill will consider allowing the £8m man to leave on loan before the transfer deadline, although he still has the option of sanctioning an emergency loan for the former Ipswich man from September 8.
“Loads of teams have asked about Connor and loads have asked about a number of our players, so I’ll see,” O’Neill said.
