GUS Poyet has challenged Sunderland to make global news by ending Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season this weekend.
The Premier League leaders have dropped just four top-flight points this season and haven’t suffered a competitive defeat in any competition since last April.
But Sunderland boss Poyet says the Black Cats, who have triumphed in the last two meetings with Chelsea, must relish Saturday’s opportunity to test themselves against the best and strive for a result which will cause ripples across the world.
Poyet said today: “It’s a great opportunity.
“There are only a few things you can do in football that will cause news all over.
“Whoever beats Chelsea for the first time is going to be news worldwide.
“Everyone is waiting for that, unfortunately for Chelsea.
“The next game is Sunderland and we’ve got a chance to be the first ones.”
