SUNDERLAND have confirmed Louis Saha has now parted ways with the club.
SportMail revealed earlier this month that Sunderland had agreed to cancel the remaining six months of Saha’s contract at the Stadium of Light, with the 34-year-old keen to ply his trade in South Africa.
And with Sunderland having to re-submit their 25-man squad to the Premier League after tonight’s transfer deadline, the Black Cats have confirmed Saha’s contract has been ended by mutual consent.
Saha, who penned a 12-month contract with the club last summer after his release by Spurs, failed to start a Premier League game for Sunderland although he made 11 appearances from the bench.
Sunderland chief executive Margaret Byrne said: “We wish Louis all the very best for the future and thank him for his contribution to Sunderland.”
Saha has been in talks with South African club Bidvest Wits, although it is thought the former Manchester United man also has options in Asia and America’s MLS.
