LOUIS Saha will be eligible for Sunderland’s Premier League opener at Arsenal on Saturday after completing his move to the Stadium of Light.
Free agent Saha today put pen to paper on a one-year deal with Sunderland after completing his first training session with the Black Cats this morning.
The 34-year-old striker could now make his Sunderland bow at the Emirates this weekend after signing ahead of tomorrow’s noon registration deadline.
Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill said: “Louis is a striker whose abilities have been proven at the very highest level and he brings with him a raft of experience of top-flight football.
“I’m sure he will be a great addition to our squad in an area we recognise needs strengthening and I’m delighted we have been able to complete the deal ahead of our first game of the season.”
Saha is the second arrival at the Stadium of Light this summer - both of them Bosmans after centre-half Carlos Cuellar was reunited with former Aston Villa boss O’Neill.
But the Frenchman, who was released by Spurs at the end of last season, provides a much-needed boost to Sunderland’s threadbare attacking options.
