WHEN Fulham scored their third goal on Saturday, the Stadium of Light emptied so fast it looked like a fire drill.
Certainly alarm bells must have been ringing long and loud in the club’s boardroom as thousands of fans turned their backs so spectacularly on yet another afternoon of crushing disappointment.
Defeat means Sunderland have now picked up just four points in a whole quarter of a season – four points from 10 games – a record which would make them not relegation possibilities but relegation certainties if repeated over the course of the campaign.
It is 15-point form.
And the worrying thing is that it shows no sign of resolution.
