Arsenal are expected to be without several key players for Sunderland’s trip to the Emirates next weekend.
Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Laurent Koscielny all limped off during Arsenal’s draw against Norwich yesterday, while left-back Kieran Gibbs pulled out on the eve of the encounter.
Sanchez will be assessed today, but the Gunners fear that the £30million frontman will be missing for several weeks.
Sunderland have injury concerns of their own, with Jermain Defoe's hamstring problem due to be assessed today, while Seb Larsson has an issue with his knee.
But Sam Allardyce does have Duncan Watmore in a good run of form and the 21-year-old has been talking about his meteoric rise over recent weeks.
"It was an easy decision for me to sign the new contract," said Watmore about his new four-year deal after his man of the match contribution in Sunderland's win over Stoke.
Meanwhile, Leeds boss Steve Evans has predicted big things for on-loan Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt, who made his debut in Saturday's defeat against QPR.
Evans said: "In two weeks time he's going to be the best player in the Championship. I thought he was terrific."
