DICK ADVOCAAT has picked up the award for ‘Performance of the Week’ from the League Managers’ Association after Sunderland’s win at Everton.

The Black Cats won at Goodison Park for the second year on the spin last weekend, to take a big step towards Premier League survival by moving out of the relegation zone and two points clear of danger.

Hosts Everton enjoyed more than 70 per cent of possession, but second half goals from Danny Graham and Jermain Defoe secured back-to-back Premier League victories for Sunderland for the first time this season.

The LMA panel made up of Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett, Barry Fry and ex-Sunderland boss Howard Wilkinson have acknowledged that result, with Advocaat picking up a specially engraved trophy.
