Sunderland complete £5million signing of Swansea’s Danny Graham

SUNDERLAND-BOUND? ... Swansea's Danny Graham.

SUNDERLAND-BOUND? ... Swansea's Danny Graham.

SUNDERLAND have completed the signing of striker Danny Graham from Swansea.

The 27-year old arrives on Wearside in a £5million move, after agreeing a three and a half year deal at the Stadium of Light.

He becomes Martin O’Neill’s third signing of the January transfer window following the arrivals of Alfred N’Diaye and Kader Mangane earlier this month.

The front man made his Premier League debut as an 18-year old at Middlesbrough FC and was Swansea City’s top goal scorer last season, netting 14 times.

Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill said: “We’re delighted to have Danny and I genuinely think he’ll do well for us. He has a real desire to do well.

“I saw him from afar last season when he played very well in a system which seemed to suit him.

“I think he can fit in and score a few goals for us. We want to be less reliant on Steven Fletcher scoring the goals and I think Danny will alleviate the load.”

Graham began his career at Middlesbrough FC, then spent two seasons at Carlisle United where he was the Cumbrians’ leading goal scorer. He then moved to Watford where he bagged 41 goals in two seasons before making the switch to the Liberty Stadium in 2011.

Graham will wear the number nine shirt.
