Sunderland midfielder George Honeyman will remain at Conference side Gateshead until the New Year.
Honeyman join Gateshead on loan last month after he had missed the start of the season with a back problem.
Since then, the 21-year-old has made three appearances for the non-league outfit and they have now extended his loan spell until January 2.
“He’s been excellent for us, he’s really contributed," said Gateshead and ex-Sunderland boss Malcolm Crosby earlier this week.
“We’re very grateful to Sunderland for loaning him to us but the important thing is that he wanted to come here – he wanted to come, get some games and learn.
“He’s come in every day with a great attitude, worked hard and been a joy to work with.
