SUNDERLAND have no intention of letting record signing Asamoah Gyan leave this summer.
Reports this morning suggested that the Black Cats had put Gyan up for sale and had sent out an email to the Premier League’s top clubs saying that the Ghana international is available.
But that is not the case and Gyan’s name has not been circulated by email or any other means. The January departure of Darren Bent to Aston Villa, the return of on-loan Danny Welbeck to Manchester United and the long-term injury to Fraizer Campbell means that, at present, Gyan is Sunderland’s only recognised senior striker.
Boss Steve Bruce has a big rebuilding job to do as he looks to bring in three new strikers over the summer and he has no desire to make that job even harder by allowing £13m-man Gyan leave Wearside.
