SUNDERLAND defender Modibo Diakite has completed his loan switch to Italian side Fiorentina - just six months after arriving at the Stadium of Light.
Diakite has made only seven Premier League starts since arriving on a Bosman deal from Serie A outfit Lazio during the summer.
The 26-year-old has fallen further down the pecking order following the arrival of Argentine international centre-half Santiago Vergini.
And the Black Cats’ efforts to secure Diakite a return to Italy have been successful, with Fiorentina signing him on loan until the end of the season.
Diakite becomes the second of Sunderland’s summer Bosman signings to leave the club in the January window after Cabral joined Genoa earlier this month.
And Sunderland will hope those loan spells lead to permanent exits in the summer.
