LEE CATTERMOLE believes the return to match fitness of Sunderland’s long-term absentees has been key to turning around their slump.
The Sunderland skipper was hugely influential in last weekend’s win over former club Wigan Athletic, as Steve Bruce’s side ended their three-month wait for victory.
It was Cattermole’s fifth appearance since returning from three months out with a back problem, with the 23-year-old gradually improving with each game.
It has been a similar situation for centre-half Michael Turner, who will make his fifth successive start against Fulham tomorrow since recovering from five months out with knee ligament damage.
