SUNDERLAND new boy Adam Johnson was today named in England’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.

Johnson, who joined the Black Cats from champions Manchester City in a £10 million deal, started England’s recent win over Italy.

England coach Roy Hodgson has named Chelsea duo Daniel Sturridge and Ryan Bertrand after they were also involved in the friendly win in Berne.

And with Wayne Rooney ruled out by a thigh injury, Sturridge has kept his place, while Bertrand provides cover in both left back and left-sided midfield roles.
