Sunderland’s Seb Larsson is hurt at Arsenal defeat – and wants FA Cup revenge!
Seb Larsson would love to win next week over his former club Arsenal.
SEB Larsson insists FA Cup success against Arsenal won’t necessarily compensate for the loss of Sunderland’s unbeaten home record under Martin O’Neill.
Thierry Henry’s stoppage time winner condemned Sunderland to only a second defeat in 12 on Saturday as the Black Cats dropped a place to ninth in the Premier League table.
Next weekend’s return visit from the Gunners arguably holds more significance for Sunderland as they attempt to reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup.
But given the way Sunderland have prided themselves on their resurgence under O’Neill, former Arsenal midfielder Larsson insists the Black Cats camp have been stung by a first Stadium of Light loss since November.
Larsson told SportMail: “I would have liked to have won both games. Everyone was very quiet afterwards, very disappointed which we should be.
“I know in the cup, you have one chance and if you lose you’re out.
“But we’ve dropped down a place or two in the league and we don’t want to be doing that, we want to try to push on.
“It’s tough to lose games no matter the circumstances.
“We’ve got a lot of games left and we can do something good this season.”
