SUNDERLAND hot prospect Duncan Watmore has extended his contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2016.
Watmore is rated as one of the brightest prospects coming through Sunderland’s ranks after arriving from non league Altrincham last summer.
The 20-year-old’s contract was due to expire next summer, but he has now agreed to extend his deal by a further 12 months.
Watmore said: “I’m delighted to commit my future to Sunderland.
“I’m enjoying my football, I’ve learnt a lot since joining the club and hope to continue progressing and developing my game.”
Watmore spent the second half of last season on loan at SPL side Hibernian and there has been plenty of interest from the Football League this time around.
While Sunderland may eventually sanction another loan move, they are looking to keep him at the club presently.
