Lao Nagas scored the first and last tries against Hartlepool Rugby but the United town side scored three in between to clinch the Group A points 15-14.

Howe scored the opener, with Adam Smith and Lee Maddison touching down for Hartlepool United in the second period.

Coach Mick Ainslie said: "It's good to get the first game done and get the W.

"The lads were a bit tense in the first half but got over the line. It's something to build on."
