Hartlepool Rovers emerged victorious in Durham Northumberland One’s match of the day with a comprehensive win over high-flying Stockton.

With a 22-14 win at Station Road already under their belts, Rovers recorded their third double of the season to put a severe dent in Stockton’s play-off hopes.

The Whites completely outplayed their opponents and ran in another six tries – all from different players – to follow the 10 scored in the previous week’s 60-7 demolition of Novocastrians.

Player-coach Alan Brown was justifiably proud of his team, saying, “We played the better rugby and used the ball and territory well.

“Having secured good, quick ball we didn’t waste it. The boys wanted to use it and six tries shows we did.”
