Hartlepool swimmer Jemma Lowe enjoys golden day at national championships

JEMMA Lowe was today celebrating an X-tra special day after striking gold at the British Gas ASA National Championships in Sheffield.

J-Lo won the 100 metres butterfly final at Ponds Forge last night in a personal best time to clinch a World Championship double.

The 21-year-old had already clinched Great Britain’s 200 metre butterfly spot in the team going to Shanghai after winning silver at the British Gas Championships in Manchester in March.

But a brilliant victory over rival Fran Halsall last night in the Steel City made sure Lowe would swim both fly events in the worlds in China, which begin on July 24.

And Jemma’s triumph in Sheffield made it a special family double after singing sister Naomi made progress in the X-Factor in Manchester.

Jemma was as proud of her 24-year-old “big sis” as she was of her own achievements.
