RONNIE O’Sullivan won his fourth World Championship title and then denied he would be retiring.

O’Sullivan did admit he planned to take a break to spend time with his family after an easy 18-11 win over fellow Essex man Ali Carter.

The “Rocket” had threatened to follow Stephen Hendry into retirement.

Carter joked immediately after his second final defeat “Maybe if he retires I might win it” – but O’Sullivan immediately dismissed such thoughts.

“A few people doubted me but I’ll let them know when I’m not ready,” he said on BBC2.

“I certainly haven’t gone yet.”

Accompanied by his son Ronnie Jr ahead of the trophy presentation at the Crucible, he said: “I’m having a good six months off now to spend time with this little man, and my little daughter.”
