PLAYER-coach Alan Brown wants to see Hartlepool Rovers make a “statement of intent” by putting in a dominant performance against Medicals tomorrow.

After beginning the season with a defeat at Alnwick, Rovers have responded by registering bonus point wins over Acklam and Sunderland.

On paper, Rovers should make it three on the spin with a Friarage win over pointless Medicals (kick-off 3pm).

Brown wants to see his team move up a gear and show their league rivals they mean business.

“We had a really good session last night,” said the 43-year-old.

“Sometimes you worry when your final run-through before Saturday goes well – you start worrying if things will go wrong on the day!

“But everyone is positive and the spirit is up.

“I think our cameraderie has been good anyway but nothing beats a couple of wins to raise morale and confidence.

“In no way will we be taking tomorrow for granted – I’ve played against Medicals before and they like to play rugby and spin the ball about.

“But I want to see us take that confidence that is starting to grow and use it to dominate teams.”
