YOUNG rugby players are having a ball at a special summer camp.
The West Hartlepool RFC Summer Camp got underway on Monday and runs until tomorrow.
And already it has proved a hit with youngsters.
Rita Westhorp, one of the volunteer coaches on the summer camp, said: “It’s been great so far, the kids have really enjoyed it.
“I’ve already been getting text messages from parents saying that the kids have been in bed a lot earlier than usual, so we must be doing something right!
“The days are full of activities with the emphasis on fun but also improving skills as well.”
The summer camp, now in its second year, is available to children of all ages and abilities and runs from 9am until 3.30pm each day.
The days are packed full of rugby-orientated games, including British bulldogs, rugby cricket and touch rugby, as well as training sessions with the volunteer coaches.
West Hartlepool RFC were charging £45 to sign up for the full week of the summer camp, but will now offer reduced rates for anybody interested in attending for tomorrow’s final day.
Rita said: “We just want to get more kids playing and enjoying rugby, even if they don’t end up joining a club.
“All they need to bring is a packed lunch.”
Anybody interested in signing up for the rest of the summer camp, or in joining West Hartlepool RFC in time for the new season in September can email firstname.lastname@example.org, or by contacting Rita Westhorp on 07771511811.
