TONY Eccles is into the BDO World Championships quarter-finals after winning a thrilling encounter with Wesley Harms 4-3.
In a match which ebbed and flowed throughout, with neither player seemingly wanting to take control of the match, The Viper won it with a D8 that sees him into the last eight for the first time since 2007.
Dutchman Harms, who defeated fellow Hartlepool thrower Paul Jennings 3-0 on Saturday, took the first set 3-1 but had his lead taken from him in the second set.
With Harms leading 3-2 in sets and 2-1 up in the sixth set with a D18 standing between him and the quarters, Eccles produced a magnificent 122 checkout before holding his throw in the ensuing leg.
The final leg was just as gripping, but the momentum was with the West View ace and he wrapped things up at his second dart at D8.
The reigning British Classic champion plays Robbie Green in the next round.
