An impressive display from West Hartlepool saw them defeat play-off chasing Chester at a blustery Brinkburn.

However, the result was overshadowed by the news that club president Reg Turner collapsed and died straight after the game.

West scored three tries through Gareth Foreman, Andrew Davies and Liam Bailey to avenge their 32-0 humbling earlier in the season by the same opposition.

And they did it without talismanic scrum-half Andrew Foreman, who left the field with a broken jaw after only 20 minutes.

A combination of weather and the fixture computer has left West with six out of the last eight games of the season at home and if they can replicate this form in those games they will surely finish in the higher reaches of the National Three North table.
