MICK Hadfield is returning to the boxing ring.
One of Hartlepool’s highest decorated fighters is on the comeback trail, almost four years after throwing his last punch.
Hadfield was a triple national junior champion and his finest hour came in 2005 when he reached the World Cadet Championship final.
The Headland boxer had to settle for silver after a close, and some feel unlucky, defeat to Kazakhstan’s Sattibayev Olzhas.
Hadfield did move into the seniors and reached the 2009 ABA Championship quarter-final.
But his defeat in Sheffield to Liverpool fighter Blain Younes proved to be his last appearance.
Hadfield had grown tired of the sport and walked away at the age of just 20.
However, 23-year-old is now back in the Headland gym and working hard under the coach who masterminded his greatest triumphs, Tim Coulter.
And the duo are gearing up towards the ABA Championships, which start in March.
