Coulson waits for boxing news
OLYMPIC HOPES: Savannah Marshall (left) and Amanda Coulson
AMANDA Coulson was today facing an anxious wait to see if she can join in-form Poolie Savannah Marshall in Great Britain’s team for boxing’s Stranja Cup.
Britain are expected to finalise their line-up for the crucial tournament in Bulgaria over the next 24 hours.
Marshall is already in – and feeling on top of the world after last night’s revenge win over Roseli Feitosa in Brazil.
The 2010 world champion had pipped the 20-year-old Headland fighter on punch countback seven days earlier after the pair had drawn 16-16 in the middleweight blockbuster in Sao Paulo.
But there was no denying Marshall last night as she took a 26-22 victory over the 32-year-old.
However, while Marshall can relax, Coulson must wait to see if she is given a chance to press her Olympic claims in Sofia from February 21-26.
Coulson was beaten on points in Sao Paulo last night by Brazil’s Roselaine Silva.
It made it one win and one defeat on the South America trip for Coulson – and her two rivals for GB’s lightweight vest at the 2012 Olympics.
