Hartlepool boxer Amanda Coulson looking to complete a Brazilian double
Amanda Coulson
AMANDA Coulson was today looking to complete a Sao Paolo double in her bid to press claims for a Great Britain place at the Stranja Cup.
Britain have already selected world championship silver medallists Nicola Adams and Savannah Marshall for the flyweight and middleweight spots in Bulgaria from February 21-26.
But no decision has been made yet at lightweight where Coulson is in competition with her long-term rival Natasha Jonas and up-and-coming star Chantelle Cameron.
All three will be in action again tonight in Brazil.
Coulson defeated Argentina’s Leonela Sánchez 10-8 last week and is looking to improve on that this evening against Brazil’s Roselaine Silva.
It is a key fight, especially as Silva defeated Cameron 19-15 in their bout a week ago.
“It was nice to get the win,” Coulson told SportMail.
“It just wasn’t the outstanding performance I would have liked.”
Read more of Coulson’s thoughts, plus all the build-up to boxer Bradley Saunders’ pro debut, in today’s Sportmail.
And don’t forget to catch up on how Saunders fares in tomorrow’s Sportmail.
