Hartlepool Rovers go down to defeat at Gosforth despite three-try haul

HARTLEPOOL Rovers went down to defeat on the road for the second successive week when they lost at Gosforth.

As with the previous week’s loss at Sunderland, the scoreline did not do justice to Rovers’ performance and they were also denied a last-gasp double bonus point reward.

For much of the match Rovers were in command, but continue to be taught a lesson in how to create chances as well as take those on offer.

After a try-less 80 minutes at Ashbrooke, Rovers crossed the line three times and each was a reward for enterprising play.

Sadly, however, two of the hosts’ tries were effectively gifts and Rovers continue to hammer away at the opposition, often for no gain, or concede a lead that has only just been gained.

Read a full match report of Rovers’s defeat, plus more reaction, in today’s Sportmail.
