Hartlepool Rovers hand out 10-try thrashing to Novocastrians in Durham Northumberland One
rovers v novos
Hartlepool Rovers brushed off two weeks of weather-enforced inactivity to hand out a 10-try thumping to Novocastrians.
The Whites controlled the match and scored 43 unanswered points in the second half to raise the temperature at a bitterly cold Friarage.
And to cap it all, the home fans were treated to nine different try scorers.
It was the first time Rovers had hit the 60 points barrier since their 67-17 Durham Northumberland One title-winning fixture against Consett in April 2009 and their biggest winning margin since defeating this Saturday’s opposition Stockton 66-3 in November 2008.
Rovers had found Novos troublesome opponents in the reverse fixture at Sutherland Park, but one lapse aside, they were in no mood to allow the visitors even half a chance over the 80 minutes.
The result moved Rovers up a place to fifth in the table and they have a game in hand over the sides above them, bar leaders Darlington.
