HARTLEPOOL United are tracking former Northern Ireland under-21 international David Scullion.
The Dungannon Swifts' attacking midfielder, who rattled 13 goals last season for the Northern Irish outfit, is on Pools boss Danny Wilson's radar along with several others.
Wilson is believed to have made an enquiry about the 23-year-old who is one of the hottest properties in Irish football.
Winger Scullion started out as a trainee at Aston Villa but returned to Northern Ireland after failing to make the breakthrough into the Premiership side's first team.
He is being chased by Irish sides Glentoran and Newry but if Pools decide to make a move, Scullion is sure to fancy another crack at English football.
Swifts boss Harry Fay is desperate to hang onto his star man but he knows if Pools came calling with a firm offer there would be little he can do to keep hold of the youngster.
"I'm simply letting things take their course," Faye said. "We've had a couple of offers and that's as far as it goes."
Pools boss Wilson is already planning for the long term as well as next season's tilt at League One.
He is after several new faces for the new term but also has an eye on the future with the likes of Scullion as well as Scottish under-19 striker Andrew Bagshaw.
The hitman, who has just been released by Aberdeen, has been invited to Pools for a trial when pre-season training begins in mid-July.
The 18-year-old has already trained with rivals Darlington but Pools could well snap him up from under the Quakers' noses.
Meanwhile former Pools star Mark Tinkler is set for a move north of the border.
The 32-year-old midfield general is in taks with Scottish First Division side Livingston and appears close to a deal.
The Lions are managed by former Middlesbrough star Mark Proctor, who is preparing for a push for the Premier League next season.
Tinkler was among 10 players released by Pools at the end of last season along with Eifion Williams, Darren Williams and John Brackstone.
Brackstone has already signed for Darlington and striker Williams is set to seal a deal to Wrexham in the next few weeks.
