A COUNCIL worker is calling for residents to join her and help raise money for Sports Relief.

Peterlee is hosting the Sports Relief Mile and locals are being urged to get sponsored and join in.

On Sunday March 23 the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile will be setting off from the Pavillion, Helford Road at 11AM as hundreds join in the fun.

Sharon Pounder, Sports Development Officer for Peterlee Town Council, said: “This is the third time the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Peterlee so let’s don the headband, get training and show the rest of the country what we can do. There will be plenty of activities on the day so don’t forget to rope in your mates, family, boyfriend, girlfriend and colleagues too!”

Sprinters, walkers and long distance runners will be catered for with a choice of one, three or even six mile runs on the day.

Anyone can enter at sportrelief.com then get sponsored to help transform the lives of people living in the UK while also being part of a huge national event.
